Hereafter DVD & Blu-Ray Release Date Set

A Hereafter DVD and Blu-Ray release date has already been set. According to my sources, Warner Brothers has set February 15, 2011, as the Clint Eastwood directed film‘s Home Entertainment Debut.

At this moment, the studio could still be deciding between two different weeks to debut Hereafter on DVD and Blu-Ray, which would depend on several factors, one of which would be the Awards Season.

Either way, we can expect an official announcement from Warner Brothers in the next seven-to-sixteen days.

Hereafter’s DVD and Blu-Ray release date makes perfect sense though, especially when you consider that the studio has already been advertising its Home Video debut.

This is specifically evident when viewing a copy of “The Town”, which Warner Bros. premiered last week and bared a trailer for Hereafter with the caption “Coming Soon“, referring to its impending DVD release.

Currently no information has been release as to what Hereafter’s DVD, Blu-Ray Special Features will be, or how many additions will be release, but I’ll be sure to post those details as soon as they become available.

Hereafter first hit theaters on October 15th, 2010 in limited release at just six locations, posting a solid $36,720 per theater average. The following week, Clint Eastwood’s latest directorial effort starring Matt Damon was release wide to more than 2,150 locations, but brought in a rather disappointing $12 million.

In the subsequent weeks, Hereafter failed to show long-legs at the box office as many had hoped, earning less than $1.5 million through its fourth weekend in wide release. As of now, Hereafter has wound down its domestic box office run with a rather disappointing gross of $32.5 million.

That makes the movie filmmaker Clint Eastwood’s lowest grossing feature in more than eight years, when Blood Work finished with $26 million in box office earnings. Although, when adjusted for inflation, even that title earned more.

According to multiple sources, Hereafter had a production budget near $50 million, which doesn’t include advertising or marketing costs. That said, the film is still a ways off from turning a profit, and Warner Brothers will unequivicablly be looking for Hereafter to post strong DVD and Blu-Ray sales.
